HDTV Colour Issues

hey there.
i've recently connected my computer to my samsung le26r41 hdtv and i've run into a problem. every so often the colour balance will switch, going from regular to extremely red, or extremely green, or incredibly saturated etc. it can happen a minute after turning it on or an hour, it's very random and happens often. changing channel corrects it for a bit and the tv's menu isn't affected by the colour balance problem, so i assume it's the computer's fault. maybe? anyway, connected to my lcd monitor it was fine but now, on the tv, it's doing this.
any ideas?
my graphics card is a nvidia 6600 if that helps.

Is the VGA cable correctly connected to the pc and tv? If some pins of the cable aren't plugged in correctly, the image can change to a different color.

i'm using a DVI cable and it seems tightly secured/screwed in... should i try another cable perhaps?
