HELP!...got a graphics card but my pc case must have been designed by an idiot

I have a compaq deskpro EN p550 i bought a 64mb graphics card for it...trouble is the tower case is oriented to only accept certain shaped agp cards...and i have no idea why...this makes no sense to me at all and i'm getting a bit frustrated...aside from taking a hacksaw and widening up the hole in the case what can i do?
 
It looks like that case is designed for low-profile cards, although I'm having trouble confirming this. While not all over the place, they can be found with some looking. I believe Asus and MSI have had some 64MB AGP cards that have a low-profile bracket. It's not a design flaw, but as the case is designed to take up less space, regular expansion card brackets are too high. The specs I've checked out say that the graphics aren't upgradeable, but again, I think that's due to setup of this system.

As for my case...there is PLENTY of room, i mean you could fit a HUGE graphics card in the agp slot...it would be really simple to fit my card in but some case modification would be in order...I'm not really enthused about that, compaq should have had the plate section that prevents normal cards into the case either screwed on or pull on/off so this problem would not occur...as for it not being upgradable, i had a pentium 2 333mhz dell dimension xps d333 up until about 2 weeks ago and i had a 64mb agp card on it and it ran fine (also said non upgradable) what to do..what to do
 
so is it the actual bracket, the end metal piece that the monitor plugs into that's shorter than it should be on your case?
 
ninja: yep, thats exactly the problem...if the hole was about an inch longer horizontally i would have no problems with it at all.
