HELP Windows 98 is sh*t

My dads Pc isnt gr8 but tis ok i dont have xp 4 him and windows 2000 dosent like his pc.... 98 dose everythign he needs.
But there is a problem it won't let me connect 2 the internet through my home network... can some1 sujjest y, and how 2 resolve the problem p.s im not an ass so i've gone through all teh obvous set ups ect... and ran all the windows network things ect... with no effect plz help thx alot Scream :x:

Could you specify the setup of your home network? That's kind of an important detail.

One server Pc - with brodand shared through that to 3 other PCs seems to work fine on the other PCs but setups dnt seem to work on this 1 win 98... (Im ProCalx lil bro so if u no about his setups as he was an admin its the same...)
 
Do yourself a favour: get a new computer - doesn't even need to be a fast one, take some old one that no-ones using from somewhere - install Slackware Linux on it, connect it to the Internet, configure Samba on it, connect your MS boxes to the 'net through the Linux box and, viola, problem solved!
 
Samba is awsome, but what it does is allow a Linux server to provide network file sharing to Windows machines. If you don't need that feature, you might consider using IPCop or m0n0wall. All you need is a working PC to dedicate to it... could even be as low-end as a 486sx with 32mb RAM. It just needs a couple of cheap network cards and you're off and going, no Linux experience necessary. If you do want file sharing but it's not of primary concern (Internet access is your focus), you might install the Samba-plugin for IPCop and have the same machine handle both internet access and local file sharing. However, using the Samba plugin lessens the IPCop's overall security, and will require more resources to run well (say, a Pentium2 with 256mb RAM or better).
