It's not good to run it at a refresh rate higher than the reccommended rate. You can damage the screen that way.
 
The 1400x900 is the native resolution for that LCD and where it will look best set at. If you want a higher refresh rate, you'll need to lower the resolution. Unfortunately, that's not always that hot of an option with LCD's, and one of the big reasons I haven't bought one.
 
for some reason my monitor started to fuck about re adjust itself because i booted it without the monitor on and everything looks squashed. and i cant it a rez of 1400x900 which it should be at.
only.. 1360 x 768 below it and 1600 x 900 above
the picture just looks out of wack, wasnt what it used to be like. text is all squashed and looks a lot darker/blacker. the best rez is 1600 x 900 i got it now but not as good as before.

i reinstalled the nvidia drivers, never fixed it

i need that native rez 1400x900

any ideas? cheers
