Hi just some advice on what to buy ?

I am looking for a new motherboard.

My processor is E6750 Intel Core 2 Duo

Cant remember the name of my motherboard its a Gigabyte was about a mid range board. Ithink about $250 NZ

When i find the name ill post it.

But i am wanting to change Mobos because i have been told the Northbridge is overheating and may be the reason my computer locks up every now and again not very often. But always at some stage playing Crysis.

People say its my 8800GT or the Motherboard... i dont know.

So i am just going to upgrade.

Would love some suggestions on a Mid to High end Motherboard, I like MSI so might go with them.

But if there are any star performers of any brand i would love to know about them.

I am a noob but logic suggests that if heat is your problem then perhaps a new mobo will not help and is not really needed for your set up unless you want to upgrade other components. Surely cooling e.g. case and/or its cooling is the problem and probably a cheaper fix.

Also is your PSU adequate.

Have you considered in adding some cooling fans in your case and perhaps your case is not cooling the components very well, try and look at this option before going off and buying a new mobo.

another suggestion is that you could get the northbridge a better heat sink that will do the job better then the current one you have and they are rather cheap aswell.

I dont really have too much time to play around with it, ill ask my local computer shop if they have a better heat sync
How easy are they to put on ?

so i thought i would just get a new/better one.

My case is pretty good payed a lot of money for it it has lots of ventilation i doubt that would be the problem.

Maybe the PSU but that is 500+ w thermaltake, how do you know when your PSU has spat the dummy ?
