hey there

so, one of the pins on my hard drive is bent and the guys at the PC repair shop (im an embarrassment, I know) said that its possible to get my data out still. I don't care about the data though. All i want to do is use the hard drive again, more of as a jump drive. It does not even need to be inside of my case.

i read the sticky here
http://www.hardwareforums.com/installing-replacing-hard-disk-cd-rom-drive-25124/

with the bent pins in consideration, how do I go about connecting to the hard drive and then wiping it out?

any suggestions? ideally, if you had any tutorials id appreciate it. Thanks guys

Welcome to HWF :)

If the pins are bent, you might be able to straighten them with a flat-head screw-driver.

But if one of the pins is broken, you need to remove the cover and solder the wires of an IDE cable onto the circuit board (which is not easy if you haven't done that before).
