You do realise if you change any of the components you will probably void the warranty on it.

Also there is not much you can do it's in a really bad shape this is what spec i found about it:

CPU= Intel Celeron D 336 / 2.8 GHz (which is ok)
Memory = 256mb DDR
Mobo = Unkown but chipset is SiS661FX
GPU = Intergrated
Sound = Intergrated
PSU = generic 235watt

If it was me i would buy a complete new computer. But do it your self don't buy these manufactured rubbish computers they are not worth it and a rip off. Buy the components your self and build it, if you dunno how to then get a mate or someone with the skills.

BTW this comp was built for office use not gaming.

If you need any help on what components to get for a new rig then i can help you.

Can anyone give this guy an suggestions on what he can do with this rig?

ok thanks

yeah i know it was built for office, i just thought i could change that.

How much do you think it would cost to build a new setup??

say i want at least 100gb harddrive/1 gb ram/ 2.8 processor

I suggest getting this rig (click on the links to find out more):

CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E2180 "LGA775 Conroe" 2.00GHz (you can overclock it to 3GHz)

Mobo: Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3R

Memory: OCZ 2GB (2x1GB) PC2-6400C4 DDR2 800MHz

GPU: ATI Radeon HD 3850 Pro 512MB GDDR3 (you can change to the 256mb version to bring costs down)

Hard Drive: Hitachi 250GB SATA-II 8MB Cache

PSU: Hiper 580w

TOTAL = £358.30

This is just a suggestion if its too expensive then just try and change things to get a better deal. I left the case and other stuff for you to decide on. Also I'm not sure this motherboard has a built in sound chip so you might have to add a sound card which is like £20 extra.

Hope that gives you some idea on how much it will cost and this will play recent games pretty well.

O well sorry if it was too pricey but i didnt look for any deals or alternatives so i suggest you do that and look around change the components to get a better price. Go on overclockers website the one i got the components from they have cheap stuff.

can i suggest you get a router and avoid any USB modems or routers like the plague, because they can be very difficult to configure, personally, i connect to the internet by using an Ethernet router, which is the best / easiest way to connect any OS to the net

you just need a cheap NIC (Network Interface Card) to use an Ethernet router (about £10) and a router will be about £30 (online)

don't bother comparing between sata and sataII.
yeah, SATAII is better / faster but SATA3 is much better, but, i don't think it will be released until about mid 2008 :unsure:

Ebuyer is cheap in some stuff and OCUK is cheaper in others it depends i also suggest you look at this company they are very cheap too i sue them a lot.

Scan Computers

Just one question do you have an OS already for the new rig? or do you need a new one?

wow thanks, yeah i got windows xp, i have the original disc, and ive only used it twice i think, so that should work

£164 is good wow
