Im at a wits end

Hey doods,

i got some question i ve been to alot of other forums i hope this one is better then them.

anyways i just purchased a new mobo it was a lower end one but definitly a jump from what i was using(had a p3 545mhz compaq prop board)
now i picked up a pc400 amptron board m922lu for a dollar mind you lol.

ok so i got a processor for it, i picked up a 478 2.40a P4 533 fsb
now my computer is only reading it as a 1.40ghz, and its iD'ed (is that a word)as a genuine intel(r) 6.00ghz(yea i wish it was that much) but my question is why am i missing like a full gig of processor speed?

i use it for gaming and even with the 1.4ghz my games run fine for me , i was just wondering why would it be doing this? i got my case from geeks.com and i know the PSU is more then enough power to run the board. any help on this is greatly appreciated :good:
 
Did you install everything from schratch or did you just plug your old devices into your new mainboard?
If you didn't then maybe your old mainboard drivers are in conflict with the new ones?
I used to have a compaq too, I threw that out the window because of all the stress it gave me. :confused:
I can't stand it when electrical devices turn against me, that's why my "DRE" (Disk Read Error) PS1 got thrown out of a 80Mph driving car too. :D

Yep i reinstalled and re partitioned basically i killed my hard drive lol and reinstalled windows also i downloaded all the new drivers for the board but im still not gettign the full potential out of my processor. Im gonna try flashing the bios tongiht see how that goes lol wish me luck.
 
Yea Mack brought up a good point that I didn't think about. Depending on where you got the CPU you may have been had. If you were, that sucks...
