Hello folks,
A friend of mine had given me an Advent T9208. Not a new machine, but it's a few years younger and much faster than what I'm currently using.
The drive has been reformatted and there are no drivers for any of the devices. :( I'm currently running Windows XP and have tracked down the driver for the network card, so can now access the internet. :)
The motherboard has Intel Pentium D 945 processor (3.4 GHz), and I'd like to upgrade RAM and graphics card so it can run Windows 7 - 64bit. I've found a PDF manual online for the motherboard (Microstar MS- 7187) and this states maximum ram of 4gb available. (Supports four DDR2 SDRAM memory modules / Supports Dual channel DDR2)
My question is, will running Windows 7 - 64 bit version allow me to install and use more than 4GB Ram, or is the limit stated in the manual a result of hardware constraint? My only other issue concerns the graphic card, but I'll create a thead in the other forum for this.
I hope someone can advise on this.
Many thanks
Myles
