Ok so i need to buy a laptop tonight. i want to get the most from my money i have $1000 CAD to spend. can anyone help me out. I live and a big enough city so shopping is pretty easy for me.. thank you

Ok well i just bought a compact presario amd semptron 3500+ 1.8ghz
i noticed it was running a bit slow so i checked the system and it says the processor speed is 787 megahurts?? and the pc was supposed to have 512 mb of ram but the system sais 387 mb. i guess the ram is being shared or something? i went into bios and checked the cpu speed and it is 1.8 ghz
