Laptop help required please

Hi,
I have a Toshiba Equium EA60-191 laptop. When i boot it up it gets to the windows splash screen, then tries to re start. I had this problem some months back and I re formatted the drive and it worked ok for three months, now it has gone faulty again.

The HDD is a Fujitsu, so i ran their diag software on it. It failed the test.

I am somewhat confused because I have been told by someone that it could be the mother board.
Surely if the HDD diag software shows the drive as faulty that must be the problem??? I have also run defrag and a disk scan but the drive is still showing as faulty. I would appreciate some help please.

If it fails the diagnostic, then you're right it probably is the drive. You should be able to replace it fairly easily, 2.5" laptop drives are available in most online retailers.
 
The HDD in the laptop is a Fujitsu 40GB drive. Would i be able to replace it with an 80 or 120GB, as this is the smallest one i can find. Or Might the BIOS not recognise the extra space??

If there is a limitation, it'd be a 132GB one, so either drive would be fine. I don't know how old this laptop is, but if it's been made in say, the last 5 years, you're probably not going to see much of an issue.
