Laptop keeps shutting down

Hi everyone,

I'm new to this forum and not particularly computer knowledgeable. I have an Acer Aspire 4730-4516 Laptop Notebook - Intel® Pentium® T3400 2.16GHz Dual-Core which runs Vista Home Premium. Lately, its been switching off by itself when I"m in the middle of doing anything on it (watching movies, surfing etc) and I usually have several applications open at once.

Can anyone please tell me why? It gets a bit loud just before it shuts down. Thanks.
 
Yep, it could definitely be a heat issue, either from failing fans, or just dust starting to build up. Try to use a can of difluoroethane gas to clean it out as best as possible. When you mentioned it's getting loud before shutting down, I'm assuming this is the fans speeding up attempting to deal with the heat. As always, make sure you're using the laptop on a surface that doesn't obstruct any intake or exhaust vents.
