I bought a Q9b-2 Viewsonic LCD monitor from buy.com It was fine until this early summer, the LCD image suddenly turned into a black screen. after half of a second, it turned back on. I called this "Blinking". It was kind of like you adjust the old CRT monitor, which will turn into a black screen for half of a second.

By the way, my system is a dell pc, which uses intel onbard graphic, IEG2. The current operating system is Ubuntu, which is a linux. However, I used XP before.

After I experience these problems, I decided that only video card or the LCD itself could probably cause this problem. Before I purchased this LCD, i was using old CRT. It was fine. I tried to plug the pc to another CRT since; It just worked fine. Therefore, I called up ViewSonic for RMA repair service because it's under warranty. I also told em that the LCD maybe suffer from the LCD inverter.

After a few weeks, they fixed my monitor and sent it back to me. I used it the first day. Nothing happened. A few days later, it started to blink again. so I was so angry. I called them up again to set up a replacement.

NOW, I found out that the LCD just never blink when i plug it into my laptop using the VGA out on my laptop.

PS: The LCD will blink when I play games on my desktop.

Is it still a LCD problem or a video card problem?

First of all welcome to the forum.

100% sure on me, that the malfunctioning of you monitor. As much as possible replace it. Otherwise your warranty will expire at all. Normally it is difficult to fix, because some of the some of internal power wires are burned.
