LED cinema display 24" on PC (Linux/win)

EDIT: Check out my last post. I received the monitor already, but some questions about adapter choice are still open to me!

Hello.
So, im getting an insane new PC with just every best components possible. Now the monitor is one of the two things on your desk which you watch all the time. I though like, if I'm going for that good parts, lets go for something really good ---> Apple LED Cinema display. Though they're only selling the 27" model; its too big and too expensive anyway. So i thought I'd get one 24" cheaper one from eBay. (Got a MacBook Pro late 2008 with 8GB RAM, 500GB HDD, 13" from eBay and writing this thread from it right now. Very satisfied!)
BUT as I am a very big fan of Linux, the Mac is running Mint with lots of effects of course! My next computer will be running Mint and Win7 dual-booting. So my big and simple (bloated) question is...

>> Is it okay if I just go ahead and get that glossy monitor wonder? Will it work on Linux/win7? Any adapters (apple mini display port for ever?) to be bought? Anyone ever experienced problems from a mac or just like in my case from Linux/win7?

(Dont take me too bad if the above are stupid questions. Programming is what I do, not messing with hardware)

If the monitor you purchase has a DVI/DisplayPort connection, you should be able to connect it to your PC via your graphics card which should have at least 1 DVI port. But be careful, there are different types of DVI ports. DVI-D and DVI-I (dual and single link). Look at the picture below to see what i mean. Make sure the connections are a match.
That's all. Linux shouldn't have a problem detecting your card or monitor. Just download the drivers from your manufacturer's website.

Halp.
Me and the monitor fell inlove with each other. We both hate the lack of DisplayPort->MiniDisplayPort adapters.
I managed to find one single adapter of that kind. DVI->MiniDisplayPort the same, only once.

This is a LogiLink adapter, as I'd need it:

Now, Mr Monitor has a 1920x1200 screen resolution. The adapter says "1080p", and I think that results in 1920x1080, and thus is incompitable?

Belive it or not, but you all know what my question is! =D

PS: I am very satisfied of that Apple monitor. I never had anything such big to use!
 
And thus, that LogiLink thing wont ever work? partially (slow) ?

Are there even 1920x1200 adapters ?!
 
My video card has famale video outputs. (famale 2x DVI and famale 4x normal DisplayPort).
My Display has a male mini DisplayPort input, and a male USB input/output.

BUT the adapter is on its way to me already, aswell as an extension/prolongation. Once they arrived and hopefully work I will just mark this [SOLVED].
