lian li locking pci card slots worth extra money?

i'm looking at this (also, will this thing really hold two 140mm fans up front?)

the fans that come with it don't matter as i'm going to be using noctua anyway.


i'm wary of the screw type the first on has as it's easy to strip them out and they don't seem too secure to me. i never could figure out why the screw loops on cards open up instead of down. anyone know why they do? if they opened down then the card could rest on the screw, instead the screw has to be excessively tightened.
 
also, is there really any sense in having two 140mm front fans? i would have one 120mm rear fan and this Noctua NH-D14 120mm & 140mm SSO CPU Cooler with both a 120mm and 140mm fan on it.
 
Nice case. Why wouldn't you want to have 2 front 140mm fans!? Point is to suck air in and out through the back. 140mm fans x 2 > 120mm x 1.
120mm in the back to blow air out is good enough too. Again, two bigger would be better. What heatsink do you plan on getting?
 
Wow... that's one huge heatsink. What do you plan on doing with this thing? Hardcore gamer i assume?
Some cases with clear side panels are more expensive because they're more favorable. I also prefer solid cases.
 
yeah, but these cases are actually cheaper than their solid counterparts.

and no, i'm not into gaming, it just want my pc silent and cold no matter how cheap i am on air conditioning. i won't even be overclocking. maybe it is a bit overkill, eh?

although i am going with fan-less graphics cards since the fans they come with seem to be far noisier than any other fans in a case.

The Noctua is better because it has 6 heatpipes on each heatsink as opposed to the 4 the Thermalright has.
Dude... definitely over kill. I'm an avid gamer and i run on a stock cooler! I should really change it...... but anyway yes, def overkill. It's massive and has two heatsinks. Get one that has only one. That should suffice.
 
back to the original question, is that lever lock system in that lian li really that much better than the screws used to mount pci cards in most cases?
 
It depends on personal preference. The idea is a tool-less installation, so if that's important to you, this would be a good consideration.
