bought these this morning and i cant have them on any lower than half volume cos they crackle and halfway is too loud to play games at night with a baby in the house. anyway of sorting this.

Try this, instead of decreasing volume from your computer, do it from the speakers itself...

the crackle may be a fault, or interfierence, i suggest contacting Logitech.

apparently its a design fault but now im not getting any sound atall still get the huming but my games and cds dont give sound out now.could it be because my onboard sound is crap or not.

nah, i had crap onboard sound with my z5500's, dont really effect the speakers, just you can see that the intergrated sound is low quality with them, i think it's proberbly a fault with the design, your set also suffers from popping i belive, same with z5500, Z680, you set and i think z2300, logitech will help tho, probs replace the set.

Check if your pin is plugged in properly coz a lose connection can be the cause of noise as well.

turn both the speakers and the PC volume down, then slowly turn up the volume on the PC up,

the crackle may be a fault, or interfierence

it is probably a bad connection within the jack plug, but try removing anything that could cause interference (although it's usually speakers that cause interference)

BTW: can you test the speakers on anything else

Try dowloadeing new drivers from logitech. It fixed the crackle on my Creative speakers.

Drivers for speakers :s, there are no drivers from logitech for speakers as speakers dont need any software drivers, only thing for sound that needs drivers is sound card.

haha, sorry, I'm not a speaker buff. I meant I downloaded the new drivers for my realtek onboard sound.:doh:
