Loud noise from cooler fan

Hi.
I have abit's kt7a mobo which seems to control the cooling fan quite poorly in my opinion. First when the PC boots it runs slows and smoothly but then when it needs to spin it faster the spinning doesn't sound stable anymore making a lot of noise.
So I was wondering if there are any known ways of controlling the fan speed. There should not be anything wrong with the fan it self since I replaced it to a new one, but I think it's the mobo that play's it like disk jockey - fast - slow - fast...

If you load the BIOS settings screen, and you go to Hardware Monitor. THen look at fan speed, select it and press ENTER/RETURN and select Disabled. Now save everything and reboot. Now look if the speed of the cooler has changed. (I don't think so, but It's worth the try).
 
Thank's but there's no options there that can be toggled accept the CPU's fan prodection (I guess that has something to do with overheating).

Could it be possible to somehow give less power for the coolers? One friend once mentioned something about this...
 
Hi, thanks for the reply. No I can't select the CPU fan.
But I just realized that the sound was actually coming from the motherboards small cooling fan. So I what I did was that I unplugged the power cable from that one and now its rather quiet.
I hope it doesn't get too warm now though.

I run it yeastarday for few hours and it didn't burn. But im going to pay attention on the heat from now on and try it with hand to feel has the chip become too warm. Not sure what would be too warm though.
 
If you're not locking up or getting burned when you touch the heatsink, you're fine.
