Hey all, I got the upgrade bug recently and started researching again.
My current setup:
AMD Athlon 64 3200+ (Winchester)
MSI M8N Neo2 Platinum Mobo
2 GB Corsair XMS DDR400 RAM
eVGA GeForce 6800 GS
Creative Audigy 2
120GB WD SATA harddrive
17" ViewSonic VA720 LCD
Enermax Noisetaker 420W psu
It's been a sweet rig for some time now, but the games caught up and surpassed it a while ago and I'm now playing Vanguard which is hungry for video and memory. I'm also getting back into FPS games.
Proposed Setup:
Intel Core 2 Duo e6600 Conroe 2.4GHz
mobo: undecided
2 GB Corsair XMS DDR800 RAM (or should I go 1066?)
eVGA 8800 GTS 640MB
Creative X-Fi Fatalit1y
Dell E228WFP 22-inch WideScreen LCD
psu: undecided
I'm in need of help on deciding my motherboard and psu. I'm not sure if I want to overclock, if I do it won't be anything serious requiring a liquid cooling system. I want a mobo that is stable and with not too many bells and whistles; I don't need on-board sound/video or any other special features like wireless or remotes and the like.
Please feel free to suggest something else from what I have on my Proposed List and what I listed for mobo's and psu's, I'm all ears.
I've been building my own rigs for as long as I can remember and this would be the first time switching to Intel.
