MAXTOR 160gb 6l160p0 not being detected?

First off, nice to meet you all. But I have a little bit of a hard drive problem. After I put every new part into the case, started bios, and installed windows; I do not see the drive in My Computer or anything. I can not save anything in the drive since it won't come up in My Computer, so I am stuck. In the bios it shows it as the master and working in device manager. This is very strange to me and I just can not figure it out. I have one other hard drive from another computer that I transfered into this one which is working fine. I can't seem to find any drivers online for it but could that even be the problem??

go to start -> right click my computer -> manage -> disk management -> right click on the hard drive -> format.

you may need to format the drive before it will be operational.

You might need to initialise your drive before formatiing, which will also happen at the same place in the disk management.:D
 
Thanks alot both of you really helped and solved the problem. I had to initialize it then format it.
