I have currently set-up my wired home network using the usural network protocols. However, I need yet to optimize something to take full advantage.
I am aware that I am on a SpeedTouch 585 ADSL router capable of speeds of up to 54Mbps wireless, however I am not on wireless now, I have two sparkling yellow ethernet cables connected to the router through two of my PCs that I have networked.
I was under the impression that ethernet cables speeds can go up to 100Mbps if I am not mistaken. However, this is not the case in my point, I have only achieved a maximum throughput of up to 81Mbps. You may think that the remaining ~20Mbps or so is not much but it is for large data files (In the 100s GBs that will take 20% less time) that needs to be sent.
Now I was wondering if I am missing some sort of tweak to bump the extra bits or is this simply a Windows issue?
Please help :D Much appreciative!
