My monitor kicked the bucket.

Well...Kinda. I've been getting problems with the screen bending down showing the top half of the screen stretched to the bottom. Hitting it does solve this problem. Weird. I took off the plastic shell and dusted it out, beat it up a few times and put it back together. It works fine now, but I don't trust it and have never liked it.

I'm looking at a 21" Sony Trinitron on craigslist.org I want a huge monitor and it's only like $60!

only thing is the monitor weighs 80 pounds! My desk's 'max. recommended weight' is 75. It's glass :( I have a small nightstand that's wood and would support it no problem. I can't afford a new desk. Any ideas?

As much of a steal as that is, 80lbs is awfully heavy, and unless you happen to be particularly brawny, you're gonna need help handling that sucker. 60lbs is about the max weight I can really lug, but 50 is more about the usual I'd handle. My Dell 17" Trinitron's aren't fun to get out of the car and I don't think they're over 50lbs. I'd see if you can find other 19" that are below the 75lb mark. While I don't think a small drop would break the monitor's glass, I really wouldn't want to risk having the electric gun in the CRT tube zap me.

haha no I don't happen to be particularly brawny it all ^_^
If I can find a 19" that weighs less and I like it may happen. If not, I'm thinking about removing the glass top and tacking some various wood pieces together.

yeah look for a smaller monitor, I'm not sure what my desk can handle as my dad made it, it wraps around my wall...hmm interesting
I dont trust glass desks anyway, they just never seemed sturdy enough for me.

so i got the 21" one.

put my nightstand behind my desk, not much of a problem. I was able to lug it upstairs and into my room and I've got it running 1600x1200 right now at 120hz so i'm happy

has a fairly clear picture with great colors. I'm sure i can get the picture better by messing with settings.

awesome, i'd love a giant CRT monitor but I havent got the space so i may just use my widescreen TV in my room sometime.
