go for the core I7 no doubt 1mb L2 cache 256kb per core back up by a 8mb L3 cache. intergrated memory controller on the cpu runs latest tech QPI. good solid intel board, tripple channel DDR3 upto 2000mhz!! which is a 50% increase in bandwidth from DDR2 dual channel. 2nd generation SLI 16x/16x/4x. E-sata port, shame it doesnt have SAS ports for 15,000rpm harddrives and solid state. should have ferrite core chokes, mosfet heatsinks which are always a good thing, them mosfet voltage regulators can get pretty hot when uppin cpu voltage for OCing. solid caps. anyway enuff chat i think you shud go for that one :)

I'm not sure if this belongs in here or not, since its kind of about advice for an upgrade/new build, I'll ask it anyways.
After I upgrade it to a 1000w PSU should I get the 4870x2 or a GTX 295?

hey dude, Personally I think the GTX 295 is the best choice, but you will get ATI fan boys who will disagree. The GTX 295 does beat the ATI 4870X2 in most games. So personally I would go for the GTX 295. if you do upgrade to 1000w PSU, you will be able to run one GTX 295 easily and in the future if you decide to go Quad SLI (two GTX 295's) the 1000w psu will be efficent.

You have a huge difference between the two choices the first choice has 12GB DDR3 which i don't believe anyone one needs lol and the second choice has only 2GB DDR2, anyways my personal opinion would be not to get any of the two just build your self a better spec rig for what you need and at cheaper price so also save your self some money, just a thought.

oh yea another thing about the GTX 295's is they blow hot air into the case instead of out the case lol don't know why, could be a design defect. So your gonna need some good cooling going on with the 295's.

BTW: are you watercooling or AIR Cooling?
