Need Suggestions On Replacing Asus P4SD-LA Mobo

Hi, this is my first post here. I typed a really long in-depth post, but I lost all the typing because I somehow got logged out...

Anyways here's the short and sweet version...

My home server is a HP Media PC 876 X. Here is the specs.

From what I understand, there are two different types of mobos. Will the one below work for me?

The biggest reason I want a new mobo is because I want USB 3.0 to transfer and encrypt very large drives. I'm not going to be doing any gaming or video editing on this box. I'm mainly just concerned about external drive speed. I'm also lost when it comes to picking out a processor.

I'd like to keep this under $200 if at all possible. Used parts may be an option.

EDIT: I forgot to mention that I want a 64-bit processor.

Lets see... your board is pretty old and there's no chance any of it's core hardware and peripherals will be compatible with newer motherboards containing usb 3.0. If you get a board, you'll have to upgrade everything. memory, cpu, and maybe even your cd/hard drives...

Thanks for the reply. I knew that I'd at least need the mobo and CPU (the CPU that is in there now is an Intel anyways). I had to replace the CD drive about a year ago, so that is eSATA. I'm sure that will work. The drive is a regular SATA drive. I think I might be able to use that as well.

I have a usb keyboard and mouse. I also have a new HP monitor that I can use with the new mobo. I also have an external USB wireless adapter. So I guess a better question is if the mobo that I listed will physically fit in the box, or if I can modify the box easily so the board fits.

I would like to use the power supply, fan and stuff like that if I can.

So I guess let's make a parts list of what I'll need.

I didn't see that particular mobo on the site, so I'm not sure if this is the right memory for it.

This far I reckon I'm up to $171.98. Still need suggestions for a processor, a video card, and anything else I may need. If I can used the old Nvidia, great. If not I want the cheapest card possible. I will rarely ever have a monitor hooked up to this unit.
 
Ok, gotya. Well first you'll need a MicroATX (uATX) motherboard, which is basically a smaller form factor then that of standard ATX boards. In the motherboard specs you'll notice a form factor "uATX". I don't thinking keeping the same PSU will be a good idea as it is only 200W. Also new motherboards come with at least 24-pin power slots and your motherboard has a 20-pin power slot. Check to see if your power supply has an extra 4-pin cable lying around which isn't plugged in anywhere as it may be used as the extra 4 to supplement t he 20-pin.
Memory compatibility depends on the motherboard we get but that Ballistix is pretty standard and should fit the motherboard we'll choose for you.
Now on to video cards. If you aren't even planning to play games on it than just use the integrated video graphics the motherboard comes with. Saves wattage, money, and space. You won't be able to use the FX since no new motherboard come with AGP slots.

We'll deal with cpu later. In the mean time, check out the power supply lines.

Slight change in plans...

I want this box to run my 8TB raid 5 that I will be building. Here is the link to the enclosure that I will buy.

This already comes with a PCI SATA card. I will use this instead of the USB 3.0. I want a CHEAP mobo and a CHEAP processor that will let me read/write 250/mb/sec. If we could keep this less than $100, that would be stellar. I'm not really worried about the power supply because I will be running a light weight version of Linux which will save on power consumption. Plus I can get a 20 to 24 pin connector, and upgrade the PSU late if need be.

My biggest concern is data transefer rates. This is a must. Three or four SATA connections will be fine. One or two PCI slots as well.

BTW I have several 4 pin connectors that aren't doing anything.
