New Build PLEASE help

Hey,

I am working on building a system, I don't know a ton about building a computer but have figured out I can build the same system I would get from Alienware buy buying the parts from Tigerdirect and having them build the computer for about $1500 less. Below is what I am planning on building:

intel i7 975 extreme 3.33 quad core

EVGA Geforce GTX 295 video card

EVGA X58 Motherboard

Corsair Core i7 Dominator 6GB PC12800 DDR3 RAM - Tri Channel, 1600MHz, 6144MB (3 x 2048MB), DHX

10000 RPM velociraptor HD 300GB

Vista 64 bit

I really need some help with a few questions please

1. Do these parts all look compatible with eachother? If not what should I replace?

2. what type of power supply do I need? 850?

3. This computer is ONLY for gaming, with that in mind are there any adjmustments you think I should make with the parts I selected?

4. Would this HD be alot faster then the one I selected?

yes everthin is compatible, I would go for another raptor 300gb hard drive and use the onboard raid for a raid 0 lookin at about 240-250mb/s read and write speed, also enable caching. 850w psu will be fine for that setup make sure it's a good brand such as corsair ocz, enermax etc. I wouldn't bother with the ssd as they have quite high failure rates.

I wouldn't go wasting loads of money on that gtx 295 as it's pretty much almost old skool kit with the gt300 dx11 series coming out possibly end of this month with windows 7 release. Also ATI has the 5870 dx 11 card available for about £300. I've checked a few bench marks it's very close to the gtx 295. But personally I would wait.

Also I would recommened using windows 7 64bit instead of vista. overall better performance.

Also invest in a good cpu heatsink such as the Thermalright Ultra 120 copper. Bad boy heatsink worth every penny. especially if your overclocking which is a must do on a core i7.
