New Monitor - Red Dot - Need Help!

Hi all. As a few of you know I have just bought my new LG 19" LCD monitor. It arrived today and I hooked it up and everything, right down to a T. I turned the computer and monitor on, updated the driver and then just looked at the increased image quality etc etc (i was all excited :P). The I noticed on the center/bottom of the screen I saw a tint tiny red dot. I then touched the dot n then it went away. then came back then just vanished. I then phoned the company where i bought the monitor from and they told my that it was a dead or lazy pixel and that it would go away. is this true? is their a problem with my monitor? is it ok? what wrong or is it ok. just to re-iterate, the dot is gone now.
 
Yea there proberbly right, it sounds very likely that it is a dead pixel or "lazy pixel".

Ah so has it gone for good now?, if it comes back then it sounds like a "lazy pixel".
 
I am pretty sure its a lazy pixel - i gently rubbed the screen like i was told on wikipedia and then it disappeared. I turned my monitor & computer off for about 1hr n then it came back. i rubbed it gently again n then it went. Sometimes it just doesn't even come up. i am trying to get a stuck pixel fixer which rapidly changes colors so to activate the pixel, but i don't know which one to get. does any one know any trusted programs/sites??

BTW how do i add you to my buddy list willz?
 
What buddy list :s, AOL?, msn messenger?


Hmm i have never heard of stuch pixel fixers, maybe a game or 2 would help?
 
I dunno, there is an option on here that says "open buddy list" so I assumed that we can ad buddies lol :S i dunno :P I'll find out.

Yeh, I'll play a buncha games and let u know how it turns out - seems ok for now anyway, so its all good. I'll let you know of any change though. Oh and keep out for the review of the monitor sometime in the next week or 2. :D

Whatever you do...if it keeps coming back every now and then...don't make the mistake to just ignore the problem. You shoudl not have to settle and put-up with that monitor if its in the slightest way defective. So if the problem persists, demand an exchange from the company you purchesed it from (or LG directly).
 
Err ... u can't exchange a monitor if it has just one pixel messed up. Almost any LCD monitor out there comes with a warranty of like 8 messed up pixels or so before they will replace it for u. The exception to this that I've found so far is ViewEra which guarantees no bright or dead pixels for 6 months! Also, Asus comes fairly close with a no *dead* pixel guarantee (but nothing about bright pixels), but I don't remember for how long -- probably 6 months as well. As for all the others -- if u get a bright or dead pixel, deal with it.
 
I have to say that yes that is true, the company wont exchange the monitor because of one dead pixel - they said 5 or more - however as previously said i thikn that we pay good money for high quality products and it doesn't matter whether it is 1 or a 100 dead/lazy pixels they should still change it.
 
That is completely unacceptable. I did not know about that policy but i think its totally ridiculous. How can they condone defective products?? I had a 17" LCD once that had a bright pixel and i took it back to the store i purchased it from and bought a 19" CRT instead. Try bringing it back to the store...they probably have a 7-14 day refund/exchange policy.
 
Get Dead Pixel Buddy and try it out. If it is the case that you do have dead/lazy pixels, go return it and get another one. Even if it goes away today it is likely to return down the road.
