So my nYko Air-Flo mouse has finally decided it's going to act like it has a split personality. It decides to jump all over the screen when I'm using it. I've tried various mousemats and surfaces, same problem. This can be annoying when you click on something andthe mouse decides to jump, the thing you clicked on get's dragged around everywhere.

I've decided to get a new one, I've ordered it today off of ebay (good old ebay, you've gotta love it) it's a Logitech MX610 Wireless Laser Mouse. It's got some rather cool features:

- Syncs with your PC - it sleeps, wakes up and turns on and off when your PC does, saving battery life.
- E-Mail and IM notification buttons, these buttons light up when you have a new E-Mail / IM and a press of the button takes you to the app.
- Volume control, allowing you to increase, decrease or mute your volume from the mouse itself.
- Zoom, the scroll wheen tilts to allow you to zoom in and out from the mouse itself too.

What do ya'll think? I can't wait to get it and try it out, I'll probably write a short review on it for the content section of HWF.
 
Hey, did this happen to your mouse in games? sometimes when i play first person shooters, the camera points up and spins around at the fastest rate that the character can spin, and then stops, and i'm left looking at the ceiling turned around. This happens in any game that uses the mouse as the camera. Also i'll be on the desktop and the mouse pointer will shoot up randomly toward the corner. Is this a sign fo a broken mouse or is it reflecting weirdly off of the mousepad?
 
I'm not sure, it may be because of bad reflection but I've tried lots of surfaces in an attempt to stop mine jumping around.
 
Hehe, yeah I did get my nYko mouse from ebay, it works just every now and then it goes schitzophrenic on me...

Plus the new one is wireless and I like having less wires...

I have the exact same problem with my Logitech Optical "Click!" mouse. At random times, it chooses to waddle across the screen when the mouse is still, and in games like Counter-Strike my character is left facing up and spinning round when I am only pointing forward. :x:
 
Maybe it's the way the optics work then, I wonder if it's the same with Laser mice, oh well I'll find out when it arrives.
 
My old optical mouse used to wander across the screen slowly at random times when it wasn't moving. I went back to a good 'ol mouse with a ball and wire which works much better.

You're right, I got it today and it's not working, the damn reciever isn't deteced by my computer, and when it is I get the "Unknown Device" message. The SetPoint software I'm using doesn't have the tabs for configuring devices like the screenshots I've seen - maybe that's because the device isn't connecting to my computer though.

I've uninstalled and re-installed, tried all the different USB Ports on my PC (7 on the PC itself, plus 4 in a hub) plus the USB > PS2 adapter that comes with it and nothing.

Pressing the power button on the mouse turns the power light (on the mouse) on for about 5 seconds, it then turns off again (I presume because the mouse isn't getting any signal and turns of to save power) the 'laser' doesn't turn on at all, maybe it has to recieve a signal first before it does anything, I mean it does sync with your computer so maybe that's a problem?!

Does anyone have any ideas?
 
I've got a Razor diamondback that does something similar whenever my mobile phone rings... must be some kinda interferace but it's particularly odd as it's a corded mouse! Try checking for other devices that might be interfering.
 
I've disconnected my wireless keyboard and mouse, take out the batteries from them. I've heard because this uses a 2.4GHz frequency it's more prone to interference but I've got nothing, absolutely nothing so far and I've moved the reciever around, waved the mouse around.
 
I have got the MX1000 cordless Laser mouse. First I plugged the base unit into the power and let my mouse charge for 24 hours. when it came to install I just plugged the base unit into my PC and booted up. I dint bother installing setpoint, Windows recognised it as a HID-compliant mouse. I pressed the signal link buttons on my mouse and base to get them to link. It worked no problems.

Edit - Taken from the Logitech support:

"All Logitech PS/2 and USB Mice and Keyboards will work with the Windows Native drivers. This means the devices will work with no software installed."

So dont install setpoint as that will eliminate the possibility of a software conflict. BTW what version of set point were you using?
 
That last one is for a different model, I do not have the 'Connect' or 'Signal' Buttons to sync things for this mouse as it's done automatically I assum, the mouse isn't the problem I don't think, I think it's the reciever.

Below is what happens when the reciever is plugged in:

The Unknown Device is the Reciever, the other is the corded mouse I'm using.
