Finished this part of the course today. Spent two weeks learning XP and Server 2003. I hate Microsoft even more... Actually I spent most of my time in lesson running SLAX from my pendrive :D
I learned very little from the XP classes. Nothing was covered that I didn't know already. Obviously I will have to brush up on Server 2003 as I hadn't had an introduction to a Server Operating System until now. Windows is easy by nature anyway, so I doubt i'll have much problem with it.
I've got two books, one for XP and one for Server. They are probably the biggest books you've ever seen. Lots and lots to go through....
Hopefully I can take the XP exam within a month and the Server exam within a few months. The sooner i've done them, the sooner I can get my foot in the IT industry.
On a side note, I really dislike most Windows administrators. Half of them no absolutely nothing. Sure they might have half-read the book and passed the exam, but they have no real troubleshooting skills. It's obvious that half of them aren't really interested in computers, and their administrator role is just like any other job... a job!
Take today for example, I came back to my desk after two weeks away. To my horror I discover that my computer had been reinstalled. Naturally I was furious. We have roaming profiles at work, so theoretically my personal files are on a server somewhere. But programs that I installed myself such as Firefox and others are gone!
So I stormed up to the tech guy and asked why he reinstalled Windows. All he said was that there was 'an Outlook problem so I had to rebuild your computer'! WTF! He Reinstall Windows just because Microsoft Outlook wasn't working properly! I promptly told him that was not the correct way to do things and we squabbled for a few minutes! I was so angry at the dumb admin.
Windows administrators no nothing....
