P75 to P233

I have a very old comp with a P75 and i have a P233 processor laying around and when i try to put it in the thing when it is booting says pentium 100Mhz and freezes. Is there a way to fix this or is the motherboard not good enough to handle the newer CPU?

My guess is the motherboard can't handle the cpu.

Note your motherboard's chipset and look on intel's website whether it can handle that cpu or not.
