pc doesnt turn on after short

hi, i had this problem a while ago

my pc didnt turn on because of a short so i replaced my power supply . i installed it today and it still doesnt turn on .
is this a motherboard related issue, should i rma my mobo? there was no bad smell or any indication of damage anywhere.
i tried clearing a cmos but it doesnt help, maybe i should remove my mobo out of the case and try it again? maybe the power switch is broken? also there is a green small led next to the mobos power and reset connections and it lights up when the psu is plugged in.
please help me
 
Have you tried taking the motherboard out of the case? have you shorted the power switch pins with a flat head screw driver? have you reseated cpu, ram, graphics card incase any of them where shorting. Is you motherboard touching the back of your case?
 
motherboard is asus p5n-e sli. i jump started my psu and it worked, then took the mobo out of the case and jumpstarted it with cpu,video card,ram and a hard drive installed. it turned on but the gpu fan was always at 100% and i couldnt see anything on my monitor. also, when i jumpstarted my motherboard there was some unusual smell but no smoke, i tried to figure out why my monitor doesnt show anything and i noticed that both of my 8800gt`s dvi connectors got some black spots.i also checked both of my hard drives and noticed that one of them is dead.
im going to rma my case, mobo, video card. should i also rma my cpu,ram?
 
your system isn't posting. try resetting the cmos. If no joy after reset cmos there is a problem with the following: motherboard, cpu, ram, graphics card, power supply unit and in some cases cpu fan. So you will have to go through the list and rule one out at a time perfferbaly starting with ram.
