i recently got a larger hard drive 40gb and wiped the old drive so i could use it in another system that i am going to build(one day) and when i got it all installed and went to find my original registered xp version i could not find it, DOH!!! the non-genuine version is really pissing me off and won't let me install sp1 or 2, i called microsoft to see if i could get a hold of my genuine product key to convert this copy to genuine but was told that i had to buy a replacement disk. Is there any way to fix this apart from doing this or buying another copy?

If its genuine then reinstall it and when it will ask you 4 the key then insert it...

There are many of ways, but they are not neccessarily the most legal method...
Other than those, I think your pretty much screwed over :(

Just to remind you guys.

4.) War3z, MP3's, illegal software, etc.: comments and threads on who to contact or where to go to obtain such material is prohibited. Why? Well, first of all, we could get into trouble, and 2nd, if the party owning the material that has been pirated decides to go after you, we may have to turn over any and all information on that person that we have.

Is your registered XP the retail version or OEM?

Find your original disk or purchase another one. Those are your only methods that we're willing to discuss here. Thread closed.
