But it happened with 2 different drivers... I just recently updated the driver, it happened now and it happened b4 also with the old driver... And how could it be that I am the only person having problems with this?
Just put back my 8800gt and turned res to 1680X1050 but power saving mode does not happen!!! I think that this narrows the problem down to my 280 gtx am I right?
Which is verry odd cause it doesnt have any problems while in game!! I want to DIE!!! SHITTT It just happened again in acdsee and in 1440X900 LAST EDIT: thats it! I narrowed down the problem to vista aero!!! When switched to basic everything is fine!!
There have been serious developments: I took out the cmos battery and re-seated the ram, turned on pc, turned off, restored bios defaults, Now what happens is even WORSE!!!! Power saving mode the SECOND I play a movie (tried only media player 11), and sometimes even a grey or a blue screen (not the normal bsod, but just a blue screen with no writings on it)! This happens even in 1440X900 and even when windows aero is off (which I thout was causing the problems at first)!!! I uninstalled nvidia driver (using driver cleaner pro in safe mode) and tried an older one (still problem persists), and then installed back the new driver (still problem persists). I dont know if I should try re-installing vista because what if the gtx280is casuing these problems? Even though now I can't even play games!
I have already set the power plan to "high performance" in in the settings of this particular plan I set display to go off after: -never-, and I have disabled screen saver. Now I really think the gtx280 is damaged because I have even formatted my hard drive and installed windows xp instead of vista and even this did not solve my problem. After that, I re-installed vista again and now problem is even worse! The SECOND I play a video or game - power saving mode!! Or now even something new, a green, grey, or blue screen (without any writings) which I can't exit and have to restart.
I think I just found the problem I downloaded OCCT software, and for the test I selected: "OCCT GPU memtest". In "help" threre's an explanaition: "OCCT GPU memtest, based on CUDA, which will run a memtest-like test but on your graphics card memory. It is aimed at detecting manufacturing errors on the GPU MEM!" So, first run: "power saving mode" the second I pushed start! second run: green screen the second I pushed start! third run: "power saving mode".... fworth run: "power saving mode".... fifth run... "power saving mode".... and then I gave up
The only problem now is I bought my card on EBAY and warranty is over!!! So I just threw away 411 U.S$ !!!!!!!!!!!
