Power supply Or motherboard problem

Ok! here is the story, I have two computers that did work, I switch case from one to the other, Now I can only get one to work again. The first one works fine, but the second one will not start up or nothing. I try changing the power supply from the other one,but it dose the same thing, nothing... Now I took the power supply from the # 2 computer and put it into #1 and it starts up just fine.
so both power supplys work. Now ! what would make a computer not start up besides the power supply. Any Ideas are welcome..
 
The Computer that wont start up, just take the motherboard and everyhting out, sit it on a desk thats prefrebly wood and then try it, its possible that were you screwed the motherboard tot he case, some metal might of been in contact with the case causing some shorts or something, thats why sometimes you need to use these brown protective pieces on the screw holes.
 
Are there any system beeps? Or is it just stone cold dead?

You may have just not hooked all the wires up correclty, so the motherboard wasn't getting the juice it needed.
 
Yea i should of sayed, some PC's dont need this extra 4pin connector, think its for the PCU and that, but other systems do need this connector, once i forgot to plug it in and got nothing too :P
 
Well , i put back both pc's in there own case,and guess what ?
that stupid thing still won't startup. I have it back with the same case and motherboard and power supply... But still no go. I have worked on allot of Pc's
before ,but I never ran across this problem,Man , this one is one for the books.
now I am thinking it might be a bad motherboard. I will have too switch out
the motherboard this week to see if that fixes the problem.
 
Check the power cord and outlet.

Check the power supply's connector to the motherboard. Disconnect and reconnect to be sure its firmly connected.

Check the power switch on the PC's case and make sure it's properly connected to the motherboard. Try shorting the jumper pins that the switch uses to power on the PC. If that works, the switch is bad.

Make sure the motherboard surface is not making contact with the metal case (except at its mounting points). Take the motherboard and power supply out of the case and place them on a non-conductive surface (wooden table, etc.). If it boots, something was probably shorting out in the case.
 
It was the motherboard,It seems that it got fried some how. There is now power
what so ever getting to the motherboard,I have tried three power supplys and then switch out the case.. The motherboard must be toast. I just put another MB in this case and it works fine. go figure..
