Maxtor uses cheap bearing grease, which means their drives run hotter, noiser, and break faster than equivilent Seagate or Western Digital drives. The $5 you save on a Maxtor just isn't worth it. As for PCChips, bad QA and low-quality caps. They burn out quickly, and if you want to RMA a bad PCChips board I hope you speak Taiwanese.
