Hi, here is what I have built;

MSI 945p Neo3 Motherboard
Core 2 Duo E4400 2GHz s775
Corsair 4GB Kit (4x1GB) DDR2 675MHz/PC2-5400
GeForce 7300GT 512MB PCIE DVI
500GB S300 16MB 7200RPM (SATA DRIVE)
'Ebuyer Extra Value' 550W Gold ATX PSU

It also has a DVD/RW (IDE) and a TV card.
The system runs on XP Home Ed

All the drivers are up to date the system has good cooling and works fine, Apart from every now and then it restarts randomly and I get the usual "windows has recovered from a serious error" etc, when windows reloads.
Also in the BIOS settings, when I go into the "H/W Monitor" section all the temps are fine etc, but I suddenly get no responce from the keyboard and have to switch it off at the psu to start again.

Any help would be very much appreciated as I have spent hours and hours on this and is not even my computer, I built it for my parents.

Any suggestions more than welcome!!!

Just a thought - have you got 'Spread Spectrum' disabled in BIOS? For better performance & stability, Spread Spectrum should ALWAYS be disabled.

Also, have you checked the Event Viewer for information about what might be the cause of the problem when you get the the error message when Windows restarts?

I'd snag Memtest 86, and boot of the media you put it on and let it run 3-8 hours to see if any errors come up. The program is free to download, and it's an excellent diagnostic.

What temps are you getting for the CPU? If you're not sure, MSI should have a utlity on it's driver CD that can monitor this. Failing that, [google]Speedfan[/google] is something that does the job.

Hi,

You said your system restarts randomly and then that sometimes you need to shut it down because the keyboard doesn't respond.
These are two different issues...do they both happen indistinctly?
