question about i7 930 and ram channels

hi folks, whats up
i recently build up a system, i7 930, asus p6t, and i had a ram pack that i thought of using, but im not sure because i dont know how the whole channels thing work.
its a 2x2gb ddr3 ripjaw kit, but i originally bought it for an i7 860, wich i didnt buy. my questions:

will my i7 930 work with that ram?
will it damage my cpu, mobo, or anything?
p6t has 3 orange slots and 3 black slots, where should i put the sticks?
if i buy another 2gb stick exactly like the other ones, will it work in triple channel?
i never found a place to learn about trple channels, so any help is appreciated

If the s/n of the RAM is on the supported RAM sticks sheet of the motherboard, then it'll work.
 
send the ram back and get a triple channel kit of ddr3 make sure voltage isn't above 1.65v can cause issues as the memory controller is located on the cpu itself. tripple channel basically means the cpu can request 3x the amount of data e.g. 1x 1066mhz memory module is capable of 8500MB/s (pc3-8500) if you have 3 in tripple channel config the cpu can request upto 25.5GB/s so makes a massive difference when it comes to bandwidth. for triple chanel configuaration follow the colour sequence e.g. your motherboards has orange and black so for tripple channel config place all 3 modules in orange slots.
there is generally a layout for it e.g.

dimm1 = a1
dimm2 = a2
dimm3 = b1
dimm4= b2
dimm5= c1
dimm6= c2

when it comes to tripple channel just follow the sequency, a1 - b1 - c1
