Hello,
Well... my laptop is the MOST insane gaming machine possible. It may not sound good but It plays like a desktop. The most highly needy games run perfectly on high detail graphics and there is no "stuttering" at all. Thanks to all who helped me with making my CPU. So now to the Real Question... Does Stand By turn off virus scans? I like to run them before I go to bed and its kinda hard to sleep with the backlight on. I need pitch black. Thank you.

Yes.

Standby puts your computer in a state of sleep

Can't u just shut it? My laptop still runs exactly the same when u shut it, although as far as i know other laptops (like my mom's) go to hybernate or standby when u shut them. Mine doesn't though, does yours?

EDIT: I don't know if that's something u can change or not... I haven't found any tick/untick options that say "go to standby when laptop is shut" or anything like that in my control panel

I m not exactly sure but just try this one....

Right Click on your Desktop > Properties > ScreenSaver Tab > Power..
U will find all the functions there...Also if you look under Advanced Tab you will find option for your power button as well...

Look in the control panel for 'Power Options'. You can disable / enable standby mode when you close the laptop's lid
