Ram speed question please

Question please. Buying a new system for a 975 Intel i7 and need a question answered about ram speed for the MB chosen before placing the order.

Motherboard in question is a Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R
LGA 1366 X58 ATX

RAM being considered is Corsair 6GB DDR-3 1600MHz 3x240 DIMM
Unbuffered, 9-9-9-24,XMS3..Supports the Intel i7 975 that will be used
for the system.

If the Gigabyte web site specs for RAM speed support for this MB
specify only
DDR-3 2200
DDR-3 1333
DDR-3 1066
DDR-3 800

I need to know if I have any problem using the selected 1600 RAM
please?

The system is pretty well ordered so I can't make any sweeping chnages
but I have to know ASAP from a source I trust if the 1600 speed will
function normally on this MB.

the memory will work perfectly fine, the motherboard support 2000mhz ram+ so 1600mhz is well within it's range. make sure the ram is 1.5v if you go higher this can cause issues for the cpu as the memory controller is intergrated onto the cpu.

Thanks. The timing numbers for our chosen ram are 9-9-9-24 and the CAS is 9. Are we ok with that using a 975 or should I look for different numbers?
I just checked the voltage. It's 1.65

ram voltage 1.65v will be ok. Cas timings seem fine for that frequency don't think you will get any lower with 1600mhz ram. all the timings mean is how long it takes to respond to the cpu's request. your fine to use that ram/frequency/timings with the I7 975.

Thanks again. I ordered the system today. It's a dedicated system to be used exclusively off line for development for Microsoft Fight Simulator FSX. The program is heavily CPU bound and highly dependent on the latency timings. I was on the phone all day with Microsoft and we ended up with an Intel i7 960 without overclock (stability), and 6gigs if 1333 Corsair DDR3 at a 1.5v, a CAS latency of 7 and timings of 7-7-7-20.
We had initially wanted the 975 processor but discovered that the 920 can be clocked at well over 3gigs and the 960 will default at 3.2 which is fine for our purposes.
As it turned out. it was the latency that needed to be lowered to allow faster texture rendering over a changing surface.
