Registry cleaners/fixers and others?

Hi all,

I used to use a software called Tune-Up Utilities 2008 (trial version) TuneUp America - TuneUp Utilities 2008 which I used to help fix/clean my registry amongst other things such as de-frag my HDD, free up disk space (deleting tepmorary files, deleting IE cache etc) and edit my startup programs as well as much more; I used this specific software because I heard it was good and knew a few people who used it hassle free.
Now that the trial is up I was thinking of trying other softwares but have heard horrer stories of people using programs that have done more damage than good to their comps.
In short I was wandering if there were any other softwares out there with the same or similar features as Tune Up Utilities that I could use that are very good and popular (i.e. safe to use)??

There are allot of optimizers out there, some free and some not.. tuneUp 2008 is one of the best, Also Ace utilities is good as well, there is a free one i use called Eusing Registry cleaner... It works good. Abexio is a good one as well..
 
I used to use System Mechanic back in the day... up until version 6. Version 6 and up required too much RAM and had lots of startup items. Version 4 and 5 were so simple.

Anyways, you might like it: System Mechanic
It does everything from tweaking to cleaning

Now, for registry i use Abexo Free Registry Cleaner
For junk files i use CCleaner (free)
 
Well, I guess you could regain all the functionality of that one program with a combination of several free programs. For example, for editing startup programs you could use Startup Control Panel. It's free and very compact & simple. We do have a sticky thread here listing all the freeware people use. You might find helpful suggestions there, although it's rather long to go through.

Yes, actually there are a lot of software utilities, like System Mechanic Pro 8, Eusing Free Registry, Free Registry Cleaner 4.11 and many others. I actually purchased Tune-Up Utilities 2006 & 2007 because the included registry cleaner is so good.

As a free alternative, I'd suggest CCleaner. It's not as feature rich as Tune-Up, but the registry cleaner does a good job
