Removing glued heatsink

I want to install wc on my new Geforce 6800 (ASUS). The heatsink is glued to the card, and I'm too afraid of damaging the chip to just rip it off. I've heard that you can remove it by heating the card and then twisting it off.

Has anyone managed to do it without killing the card? Any dos/donts?
 
I've never been told to heat the card up first, but that may work if you just play a game first then power down the system, etc.. but you should be able to get it off without ruining anything by just gently pulling it off. It should be pretty obvious if something's going to break.
 
Yep, you could play a game for a while but the cards cool down too fast for you to get the HSF off in time!
A couple of minutes with a hair dryer will do fine, and then gentley twist it backwards and forwards, if it still is too stubborn, just heat it some more. If it still wont come off, heat some more and very GENTLY fit a flat head screwdriver between the HSF and the GPU and pry it off GENTLY!
