Sapphire X1950PRO AGP - Temps a tad high?

Hello guys.

First of all, my case isn't exactly a good one, it's a stock packard bell one so as you can imagine air flow isn't superb.

I'm using a stock x1950 pro agp cooler, and I'm slightly worried about the temps.

Idle the temps will be around 55C, with WoW running for example, temps will reach to about 80c-82c.

How safe is it to run my card at these temps? I don't want my card to burn out in a few months. :(

Nope it doesn't but I could easily modify the case.

So the temps it's running at isn't safe?

Maybe with stock cooler they are meant to run at these temps?

No, it shouldn't be higher than 65-70 degrees.

That higher temperature is reached while the stock cooler is running. So I would suggest to do this:
Get a different VGA cooler that can cool very hot devices, or get a new case where you can mount a fan on.

55 degrees idle is fine tbh.

But my monitors did mysteriously go off on me yesterday, and my whole PC crashed, maybe that could be a overheating problem?

In that case, it is indeed an overheating problem. This is a mechanism that automatically shuts down the graphics card when the temps are too high.
 
Solved?

This issue isn't solved...

I've asked many people and they said my card wont be overheating, the temps I'm getting are fine apparently and the x1950 is 'safe' until about 100c.

If my monitors go off again that would give a sign over overheating, but so far they've been fine so I doubt it's overheating.

First of all, have some patient.

When a graphics card turns itself off, it is a sign of serious overheating. Now there is an overclocking utility of Sapphire that you can use to control the fan speed. Install that program (in most cases it is included with the driver cd) and turn the fan speed to 100%. That should lower the temps of the card.

There was a solved sign on this thread, it's now been taken off. :x:

Any idea what this programme is called? And if I made my GPU's fan to run as fast as possible all the time, wouldn't that shorten the life of the fan?

I tried to adjust fan speed settings in ATI Tray tools and when ever I save the settings just automaticly revert back to default. :S

Try to select the following: Included in Profile, Manual Speed and Load the following profile at startup. Also press the Save-button (the floppy icon).
