Second build, scrapping intel, using AMD-64

In my opinion the only card that will probably play UT2k7 on High is the 7800GTX, if you want to buy a card now that will do alright the X850XT is probably enough to run it well on medium, but as the 6800Ultra has shader model 3 which is used in UT2k7 I would go with that as it's not much slower than the X850XT in most games anyway. But I say wait for the 7800GTX to go down in price. If you look at the screen shots and compair them to todays games you'd think that UT2k7 was one big cinematic, like WarCraft 3 quality, now think about trying to run that on hardware that gives you about 90 fps on games that don't look half as good, it's possible that a super beefy card like the X850XT will still be able to handle it on high but you won't get a very good fps count, I wouldn't think anyway.

Yea, you could do that. I haven't heard anything about it, have any specs been released on the gt?

I don't think yet, at least not confirmed ones, I'm guessing it's going to be like the 6800GT was to the Ultra, same idea with lower clock speeds.

That will be a good card, I don't have a job so therefore do not have the budget for a 7800 GTX.

The 7800GTX seems to be a hell of a card. So much so, that in some tests it seems to be CPU limited with FX-55 and its only when you really up the AA and filtering that you see how much better it performs. Other cards really struggle while the 7800 still goes strong.

and we thought this day wouldn't come for a while

(dumbstruck) but I still follow my signature

Yeah, basically nVidia wanted to jump start the whole new series with the kick ass GTX, then when ATI releases their line nVidia will release it's GT the same day to appeal to another base of people who couldn't quite pay $600 but still wanted great stuff. Once nVidia see's how much faster Fudo is it will release it's Ultra to gain the throne again but bumping things just over ATI's mark. ATI will probably follow suite and do the same with their Platium Edition chip or whatever.

because its good to have these rivalries or the graphics cards wouldn't have as much punch as they would if there wasen't rivalry, when Video graphics card companies compete = you win

I realize that, its the same with everything, I was just joking. Also if they were friends a X300 SE would cost $1,000.
