Solution for dusty conditions

I have a pc with AMD 3000+ cpu and gigabyte GA-K8NS-939 MOTHER BOARD.
I had been hearing a grinding noise from the pc and finally the pc shut off.
I removed the cpu fan and looked at it it the space between the heat sink and fan was filled with dirt and lint like stuff. The fan bearing is bad so i have to replace it. The pc is placed in a auto repair shop the environment is dusty.
Is there any thing that can be done about the dust.

you could possibly make some kind of washable filter and place it behind the systems front cover[ot]but don't use something that will restrict the flow of air too much[/ot]

Also, some compressed air cans would help. Alternatively, you *might* be able to use the air line for air-powered tools set at the lowest setting to blow it out. Either way, a little routine dusting will help keep the system from getting a collection of dust bunnies.

Me personally, once a month I take the cover off my computers and blow everything out with a can of air ( I would recommend buying then in SAMs or another "bulk" store, they are a bit expensive but well worth it.. and they last a while)

I probably wouldnt recommend using an air hose from the shop.

Also, while using a can of air, hold it straight, do not tilt it or use it up side down. Also do not shake the can before use.

well, i have a few PC's in an auto repair as well, and if its anything like ours, it has black carbon soot from all the vehicles. Its usually pretty think so your best be might be to just wipe everything down once a month or so. Secondly i imagine you have a compressor and an some one must have an ait attachment, just make sure tank doesn't have any moisture in it and that should be a lot cheaper than buying compressor cans of air all the time. Lastly, like donkey said, get like some screens from a window and use that as a filter, just cut out a circle and put in front of any inlet fans. Oh lastly, don't use a vacuum, it creates a static buildup and can ruin the internal components, but its fine around the case.
