sound and video stuttering

Hi, I was wondering if anyone could help me with a problem, i built a pc about 6 to 8 months ago and everything was running perfectly until about 3 weeks ago, now when if i listen to music or watch a film on the pc the sound and video would stutter approx every 8 seconds, I restarted my pc and everything worked fine for a while but it keeps happening. Is it worth putting a bigger graphics card in (128mb at moment) or should i re load windows. Thanks

new graphics card, don't think so!

did you install/update software/drivers that might be causing you this problem? re-loading windows would probably fix the problem if its a software issue.

i think it must be a software issue as it doesn't happen all the time, it seems ok at moment as uninstalled real teh hd audio and re installed it plus ran a registry cleaner, just waiting for any updates and see if one causes the problem to start up again.
