Stupid warnig boxes

Hi again, durig the last week with the help or the forums i have sorted out 2 pcs,but still have one more problem mainly when im connected to the web but also when im not.I keep getting messages-"the instructions at ox6c371351"ref "ox00000004"memory couldn`t be read click ok to end. what is this anyone help.:(
 
it sounds as though a RAM chip may have gone down (failed) try this and leave it running for a while (overnight) then post results
 
Yes, the error seems to indicate a problem with a specific part of the memory address. It could be that your RAM is faulty.

Go to Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Event Viewer

Or

Control Panel > Performance & Maintenance > Administrative Tools > Event Viewer

Look for error messages. Anything in there referring to the problem?

well you learn something new everyday on HWF, i thought scanning for an error was the only way to detect an error, the way things where in the days of DOS, but at least i would have found the problem (although not as fast as you, mega, thanks (again))
 
right click on the log you want to copy in the right hand pane of the window, and select "save log as" then change file type from .evt (event log) to text (tab delimited) and save it on your desktop (for example) then post it here
 
to be honest i don't know, although there is a few errors, will get mega to have a look at it, have to see l8r, cos mega's offline
 
Have you scanned the system for viri, worms and malware?

Are any applications runnign when you were surfing the web like a registry cleaner etc?

:x: Yeah to everyone that replied,i had some kind of prob but now its gone for the moment at least,i had to reinstall windows because nothing responded,it would boot ok but that was it.virus maybe?still busy installing programes, will need your help again,in fact i cant get service pack 2 because the site is playing up.one last thing is avast any good and can i run it with pc-illion.

I have found Avast V. 4.7 Home to be good, and as far as I can tell, it has not caused any operational problems.

There is a school of thought (for what it’s worth) that says running two anti-virus programs simultaneously is not essentially a good idea. The principle being that anti-virus software runs in the background from the moment you start your computer or from the moment Windows loads, depending on the software.

So, I guess you have to consider that every time you run a program or open a file, it is scanned by the anti-virus program before it is loaded into the PC's memory.

It should be generally noticeable that after an anti-virus program is installed on your computer, it will to run a little slower. This is, apparently, because anti-virus software uses large amounts of memory and resources. Now, imagine having two anti-virus programs running at the same time, and you've doubled the memory and resource usage.

Iam running AVG 4.7 now and have only set pc-illion as a firewall not a real time scan or virus detector. what do you think?:rolleyes:
 
Please burn the memtest86 iso to a CD and boot from it. run it for a few hours (letting it do several passes) and tell us if there were any errors. If so, how many approximately.
