Suse 10.0, Mandriva 2006 free, Ubuntu 5.1

SuSE does not install the nVidia drivers automatically at installation. You have to download them separately once you have finished installing the OS

Go into YaST and click 'online update'. Then scroll down the list and you should see 'nVidia drivers'. Tick the box and click accept. SuSE will then install the nVidia drivers for you.

Once that's finished, go back into yast and click 'hardware' in the left hand tab. Then click 'graphics card and monitor', and there is a little box which you need to tick to enable '3D accelaration'.

It's pretty simple really :)

Hey, that's a little harsh! :ohah: SuSE does everything I want it to do quite well. It detected and installed my TV card, it plays all music and video formats, includes a wealth of quality programs and is easy to install. It's performance is very acceptable on the desktop [/ot]

nvidia isn't listed under updates through yast, it was selected on updates during the end segments of install though
 
Got wine, steam installed, but I get an error saying "could not load module bin/vgui2.dll"

Can't find any information on resolving this... vgui2.dll is in bin folder...
 
I don't think I can help you much further i'm afraid :ohah: Remember that I am a Linux newbie myself!

Wine is included on the SuSE CDs/DVD, but it's not installed by default. All I did was to go into YaST's software management > Search for Wine > Tick the box and let it install from the CD/DVD. Then I right click the .exe file I want to open > select open with > and type 'wine' in the text box and click OK. That seems to work for me.
