They said he would never make it, they said he had met his match, they said he was lost forever but once again, ThePenguinCometh has proven his enemies wrong. Having crawled through the very depths of the Underworld, having fought many an epic battle against the Undead Horde, having faced the very Queen of the Vampires herself (or at least, that what she called herself - personally I think she was just a very confused goth, not that I cared really), he's back, he's bad and he's geekier than ever (D&D anybody?).

BTW, is it just me or has this place gotten huge? I don't remember the home page being that big.

Hey Penguin, it's been awhile, thought we'd lost you there. Good thing you were able to show that goth a thing or two.
 
Thanks for the the welcome guys. This place really has changed quite a bit, you've been busy Sniper. I like the flag and the permalink thingy is going to be very useful, if my previous experiences of trying to resurrect old but useful posts is anything to go by.

BTW, before those of you who have the ability to find out these things ask, yes I am a Slackware geek browsing the web on Win98. That's because I'm currently squatting in Belfast while my hardware is all stuck in England (I hate being broke) so I've been reduced to web-browsing on an ancient 245MHz laptop running Win98. It's also got a wireless PCMCIA card with the dreaded anti-Linux Texas Instruments chipset so no Linux for now until I can get my Slackware laptop repaired/pick up a decent machine in the Biffa shop/raise the money to get my hardware sent over. :crying:

Not to worry, my house (well technically my landlord's house but given that I spent the last few months repairing, rewiring, repainting, refitting and renovating the place I feel justified in calling it mine) currently consists/will soon consist of the following: one guy who's been playing D&D for, well, forever, as far as I can tell, who's also a major online gaming fan; one guy who's already brought three bookshelves into the house for all of his gaming and fantasy books; one guy who quite possibly has one of the largest Anime collection in Northern Ireland; and a Slackware geek who counts "collecting computers" as one of his hobbies. We're currently in the process of turning a former bedroom into a library/LAN room, have already turned the living room into a RPG room, will probably soon turn the, noticeably unused, dining room into a Warhammer/tabletop gaming room and then there's the room in the basement that's currently being used as a makeshift storage room which has one large, flat wall that would easily house a 50" projection TV with plenty of room left over for the speakers - God I love big houses! We've even had to fork out for a business broadband service because the 40GB/month limit on the residential service just wasn't going to cut it!

Oh, happy days!
 
Wow, the geekiness overfloweth, your 20-sided die runneth over. :) All you need now is a star wars nerd roomate with chewbaca bedsheets.:D

I'm sure if you went into that house you'd choke on the geeky atmosphere it'd be that strong.
