Despite previous posts on here and all over the gaming community i am still experiencing a monitor problem that is doing my head in.
Yeah ok i know its my fault for running a packard bell monitor (but it was free so i can't complain)
The problem is every so often and only when playing online games my monitor decides to turn itself into standby mode which can only be rectified with a full re-boot.

Is there a remedy for this??
Or can i somehow disable the button so it can't turn itself into standby mode??

And yes i have configured the display settings so my monitor can never turn itself into standby mode.

I have the lump hammer to hand.

yes, online games only.
Its when it gets a bit crowded on screen.
Now it may be a graph card issue but i'll be dammed if my clocked 6600gt can't handle it.
im running 1024 x 768 res
my refresh rate is 75hz

The monitor only goes up to 85hz
Its just bizarre that it only happens with online games.

In what instance would a monitor turn itself off??

Are you sure it's only the monitor that stops working ? Because from what you say, maybe you got a heat issue, and that the monitor shutting off is just a symptom, not the actual problem. You're mentioning online games and crowded situations, both of which stress the card much more than sp.

You're ocing your card ? Try running it at stock and see if the problems go away, if they do, your problem can either be your psu not being able to handle the load or the heat causing instability.
