Hi

Does anyone knows if there is a problem with the Ubuntu images downloaed from their site? I have spent today trying to download and burn the image and everytime the CD failed the integrity check.... does anyone know of any issues?

I am pretty sure the CD and K3b are OK.....

have you tried checking the integrity of the iso by using the inbuilt MD5SUM check ?

BTW: look here

Come again? And how do you do that? I
have checked the integrity of the disk after burning..... Is there another way?
The CD ISO files have an associated md5 checksum on the file mirror, usually something like
"filename-md5.txt", inside this file you'll see a string which is the MD5 hash of the main iso file. run
Code:
md5sum ubuntu-cd-image.iso
and when it's done it'll spit out a hash. If this hash matches the hash in the text file, then the download is not corrupt.

Sorry... my baaaadddd.

I thought you were refering to some built-in wonder function.... I knew about the command line stuff... :P

AAaanyway, it turns out that it was the coffee-cup-coaster aka CD-RW disk. It was faulty after all. I just rummaged and found another one. After burning, it passed the integrity check.....

So, problem solved. Cheers guys for looking.
