Unable To Dowload Programmes (Using XP)

Hello

I am the happy owner of a Vaio FX805. Until around four months ago I had no problems downloading programmes from the internet, such as new version of Media Player or just simple downloadable screensavers etc. Now when I try to download programme, I click on "download" and the web page in question and other open web pages, close down immediately.

Does anyone know how I can fix this problem?

P.S. There may be a possibility that this has occurred as a result of upgrading XP through the internet.

The simple answer to your question is, if your still using IE then upgrade it to Firefox, and if you are using Firefix then try re-installing it. I never bother answering peoples questions on how to fix IE, I just consider it to be inherently broken.
