Okay, here's the situation. Recently my computer has been playing games very slowly, and the benchmark results I get from 3dMark06 have been very poor compared to how they should be. My first instinct was a video card, and I looked around, and the advice I received was that modern games had just surpassed my GPU, so I got a new one. Originally, I had a computer with these specs:
Motherboard:
ASUS P5KPL-AM IN/GB -Motherboard Model
Intel G33/G31/P35 Express -Chipset Name
P35/G33 Processor to I/O Controller -Chipset
2.5 -DMI/SMBIOs Version
Video Card:
Nvidia GeForce 9800 GTX+
2 -PCI Express Version
2.5GB/s -Link Speed
x16 -Link Width
2GB -Video Memory Size
Processor:
Intel Core 2 Quad Q8300 2500 MHz -Processor
4 Cores
6 -Multiplier
1665.1 MHz -System Bus Clock
RAM:
2 x 2048mb DDR2-800 SDRAM
Crucial Technology -Manufacturer
SDRAM Width -x8
Max Case Temperature: 85 C
PCI-E Capabilities:
PCI Express Version: 2
Link Speed: 2.5GBs
Link Width: x16
Power Supply:
550 Watts
But today I changed to a Nvidia GTX 560 Ti, and I expected better performance, but everything still is running very slowly. The 3dMark06 result I get is less than 6000, which is incredibly poor for my Q8300 Quad Core, 4GB DDR2 RAM, and now the GTX 560 Ti, which is a fantastic card.
I've cleared up space, reinstalled drivers, but nothing seems to work. What's wrong with my computer!?
